The penetration of electric two-wheelers in India has further improved to 7.3% in June 2025, as against 5.8% in June 2024.

A newly published report by Equirus Securities reveals that electric two-wheelers are in high demand in India. So far in FY 26, sales volumes of electric two-wheelers in the country have already increased by a whopping 32% YoY by retailing 1,05,000 units. Legacy  manufacturers like TVS Motors and Bajaj Auto are currently dominating the electric two-wheeler scenario by commanding 24% and 21.8% market share respectively.

Hero MotoCorp has been steadily gaining market share, as it expanded its dealership network over these months. But In June 2025, the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India held 7.5% share of the electric two-wheeler market, compared to the 3.9% share it held in the same month last year. Meanwhile, Ola Electric’s sales dropped by a whopping 45% on a YoY basis, and its market share stood at 19.2% in June 2025, compared to the 46.1% share it held in June 2024.

The newly launched Vida VX2 is expected to further the sales of Hero MotoCorp, given how affordably it is priced.

On the other hand, electric passenger vehicles have managed to increase by a solid 1.9% too, from 2.5% in June 2024 to 4.4% in June 2025. While Mahindra & Mahindra continue to dominate proceedings in the electric auto space by holding 43% market share in June 2025. Piaggio, on the other hand, has registered a consistent decline, wherein its market share has dropped from 12% in June 2024 to just 6% in June 2025. In its place, Bajaj Auto has come as the new reckoners wherein the Akurdi-based manufacturer now holds over 38% market share in the E-Auto space.

However, sales of all-electric vehicles are slated to be affected in the coming months due to the ongoing rare magnet crisis. Several electric two-wheeler manufacturers in the country have already announced plans to cut short production in order to navigate this crisis, so that they can sustain themselves for the longest duration.
