MG Motor India announced that it registered retail sales of 4648 units in India, ending March 2024, compared to 6051 units sold in March 2023, a drop of 23.19 per cent. The company blames the delayed festive season and various other factors, resulting in the downtick this past month.

In February this year, the company sold 4193 units, and compare that to March and you'll notice that the month-on-month growth is significant too. The March sales are over 43 per cent more than February and MG Motor India has credited this success to the strengthening of semiconductor supplies.
MG Motor India and Jindal South-West (JSW) Group recently announced a new collaboration, with the latter acquiring 35 per cent of MG’s Indian operations. The company will now be called JSW MG Motor India with an initial investment of ₹ 5,000 crore. This move underlines a strategic alignment to bolster local sourcing, enhance charging infrastructure, expand production capabilities, and diversify the vehicle line-up, with a strong focus on sustainable mobility solutions.

Under this new partnership, the JSW MG Motor India will launch a new vehicle in India every 3-4 months starting from the festive season later this year, tentatively in September 2024. All the new vehicles coming to India will be built at the brand’s plant in Halol, Gujarat and will then be exported to other markets as well.
