Maruti Suzuki’s exports and sales of SUVs and MPVs helped the brand see some growth in sales.

Maruti Suzuki sold slightly more 22.34 lakh units in India in the Financial Year 2024-25 (FY25), registering a growth of just 4.6 per cent compared to FY24, where the company sold 21.53 lakh units. This figure includes the overall sales for Maruti Suzuki, which includes passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles, and exports.

In March 2025, Maruti Suzuki sold almost 1.51 lakh passenger vehicles, registering a decline of 1.3 per cent as it sold 1.53 lakh units in March 2025. While sales of Maruti Suzuki’s SUVs and MPVs grew by 4.55 per cent compared to March 2024 (61,097 units in March 2025 and 58,436 units in March 2024), sales of its hatchbacks and sedans declined by 3.6 per cent (79,237 units in March 2025 and 82,263 units in March 2024). This has been the case even in February (decline of 3 per cent) but not in January, when sales grew by 4.8 per cent.

Even the sales of its Eeco declined by 13.3 per cent in March 2025 (10,409 units) compared to March 2024 (12,109 units). A similar trend was seen in January and February, where sales of the Eeco dropped by 6 and 5.8 per cent year-on-year (YoY), respectively.

Similarly, in FY25, Maruti’s passenger vehicle sales amounted to 17.61 lakh, a growth of just 0.05 per cent compared to FY24 (17.60 lakh units). Much like the trend in March 2025, the sales of FY25 saw a similar trend in decline. Sales of Maruti Suzuki’s hatchback and sedans declined by 7.7 per cent, with almost 9.05 lakh units sold in FY25. The brand’s SUVs and MPVs (Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny and XL6) saw a growth of 12.1 per cent. Acko Drive has reached out to Maruti Suzuki regarding the decline in domestic sales, and we will update the story once we receive a response.

Despite the decline in domestic vehicle sales for Maruti Suzuki, the brand has witnessed tremendous growth in sales to other OEMs and exports. Maruti Suzuki sells three cars to Toyota, which include the Baleno (badged as Glanza), Fronx (badged as Urban Cruiser Taisor) and Ertiga (badged as Rumion). In March 2025, Maruti Suzuki sold 6,882 cars to Toyota, a growth of 38 per cent, while in FY25, it saw a growth of more than 81.5 per cent.

Maruti Suzuki Exports (2).jpg
Maruti Suzuki exported more than 3.32 lakh units in FY25.

Maruti Suzuki has also achieved a new milestone in exports, with more than 3.32 lakh units exported in just FY25. This is a growth of 17.5 per cent compared to the same period last year. In March 2025, Maruti Suzuki witnessed a YoY growth of 27 per cent with 32,968 units sold.

The Super Carry is Maruti Suzuki’s only light commercial vehicle and its sales have also seen a decline. In March 2025, Maruti Suzuki sold 2,391 units of the Super Carry, a YoY decline of nearly 34 per cent. However, in FY25, sales of the Super Carry saw a YoY growth of 2.1 per cent.
