The figure includes domestic sales of 3,950 units and exports of 2,035 units.
Honda Cars India Ltd. reported total sales of 5,985 units in May 2025, reflecting its ongoing conservative approach to market supply amid tepid consumer demand. The figure includes domestic sales of 3,950 units and exports of 2,035 units. The company did not provide comparative year-on-year sales data in its disclosure. However, in contrast to industry-wide growth trends seen among SUV-led brands, Honda’s volumes continue to reflect its narrower portfolio and reliance on sedan models like the City and Amaze, as well as the Elevate in the compact SUV space.

Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “Given the prevailing market conditions and subdued consumer sentiment, we continued to strategically moderate our dispatches in May to maintain optimal inventory levels across our network, while remaining optimistic about improved retail performance in the coming months supported by forecasts of a better monsoon.”

Domestic sales stood at 3,950 units, indicating a cautious retail approach. Honda Cars India acknowledged a strategy of “moderating dispatches” to maintain lean inventory levels across its dealer network. This tactical pullback appears aligned with the company’s broader inventory and demand management amid what it called "subdued consumer sentiment."
In comparison, other mainstream SUV automakers such as Maruti Suzuki (138,690 units), Hyundai (43,861 units), and Mahindra (52,431 SUVs) posted robust domestic sales, indicating that Honda is underperforming the market in terms of volume and momentum.

Exports accounted for 2,035 units, making up over 34 per cent of the company’s total sales in May. This relatively high export share suggests Honda is increasingly leaning on overseas markets for volume support, particularly in Southeast Asia and Latin America, where models like the Amaze and City continue to find traction.
