Bajaj Auto retailed 22 per cent more two-wheelers in domestic and export markets, last month.
Bajaj Auto has been reaping quite the benefits since it launched the ‘World’s First CNG Motorcycle’, aka the Freedom 125. The commuter bike already raked in 5,000 sales at the start of September, and its upward tick seems to have continued throughout. So much so that the Bajaj’s sales in the domestic market grew by 28 per cent last month standing at 2,59,333 units, compared to 2,02,510 in September 2023. Coupled with commercial three-wheelers, Bajaj’s domestic performance improved by 23 per cent in September 2024, compared to September 2023.
On a year-to-date basis, from April to September 2024, Bajaj retailed cumulatively 12,19,298 two-wheelers (2W) and 2,48,034 commercial vehicles (CV), bringing its total to 14,67,332 units. This is a 15 per cent increase in sales compared to the same period last year when 12,79,112 units of 2W and CVs were retailed.
The export business remained somewhat subdued. Bajaj Auto exported 13 per cent more two-wheelers and 16 per cent more commercial vehicles last month. On a year-to-date basis, the Chakan-based manufacturer registered a cumulative growth of 7 per cent in the export business.
It should be noted that the sales portfolio here does not include the KTMs and Triumphs. The Austrian and British brands are recorded separately and will be shared soon. Bajaj’s sales in the 2W segment are currently primarily driven by the 125 cc Pulsar range, which registered sales of 67,849 units. This is followed by the Pulsar range in the 150-200 cc category, which registered sales of 15,044 units. For a more detailed report of the top 5 motorcycles sold in August 2024, tap the link here.
