There’s no surprise who is leading the charts.
There’s a reason why India has one of the biggest motorcycle industry. With a total of 17,11,662 units sold just last month, the market grew 9.3 per cent. However, premium brands aside, August 2024, continued to reflect the typical trend of India’s preferring the industry's most reliable and longest-running names. Check out the table below:
Bikes | August 2024, Sales | August, 2023 Sales |
Hero Splendor+, Splendro+ Xtec, and Splendor+ Xtec 2.0 | 2,84,308 units | 2,56,474 units |
Honda Shine 125 | 1,49,697 units | 1,14,142 units |
Hero HF Deluxe | 84,607 units | 73,006 units |
Bajaj Pulsar 125, Bajaj Pulsar NS125 | 67,849 units | 52,219 units |
Honda CB Unicorn 150 | 31,451 units | NA |
Hero MotoCorp, with its Splendor+ line-up, continues to lead the sales chart, not just in its segment but also as one of the most sold motorcycles in the country. Despite being the most popular 125 cc bike in the country, the Honda Shine 125 trails the Splendor by more than half of the latter’s sales. However, also accompanying it in the same 125 cc segment are the Bajaj Pulsar 125 duo - the NS125 and the Pulsar 125. Both were recently updated with a new instrument cluster too earlier this year about which you can read more about it here.

TVS Motor Company continues to dominate the sub-200 cc segment with its Apache RTRs, selling 30,038 units, which are also one of the most feature-rich motorcycles in this segment. While single-handedly pushing RE sales in India and also cementing its position in the 350 cc roadster segment is the Royal Classic 350 (28,450 units sold). The brilliant part about the Classic’s performance in August is that it managed to outsell the 150 cc Bajaj Pulsars (25,137 units). The new LED version of the Classic 350 has arrived on to the scene, so expect the popularity of the roadster to only grow.
