Automotive component supplier Gestamp has inaugurated its fifth Indian manufacturing plant in Bhagapura, Gujarat, investing ₹523.7 crore in advanced body-in-white component production.
Automotive component supplier Gestamp has officially inaugurated its fifth Indian manufacturing facility in Bhagapura, Gujarat, marking a strategic investment of ₹523.7 crore across two development phases. The investment underscores the Spanish multinational's long-term commitment to the domestic market, where it has operated for two decades. The inauguration comes at a time when global light vehicle production faces a downturn in 2026, prompting Gestamp to adopt a selective capital allocation strategy that prioritises high-growth automotive hubs like India.
Spanning 31,790 square metres, the new Bhagapura facility currently employs around 240 professionals. The plant features two advanced hot-stamping lines, a laser cutting line, and dedicated assembly welding cells. Operations are focussed on producing highly engineered body-in-white structural components, including large lightweight parts from the Ges-Gigastamping family.

Gestamp initially entered the Indian market in 2006 through industrial partnerships before establishing its independent manufacturing presence in 2010. With the addition of the Bhagapura unit, the company now operates five production facilities across India, including three in Pune and one in Chennai. Its total nationwide footprint encompasses 188,000 square metres and includes 14 stamping production lines, with two additional hot-stamping lines currently being installed.
Across its Indian operations, Gestamp generates employment for approximately 2,300 workers.
Gestamp's revenues in India have surged by over 80% over the past five financial years, reaching €245 million by the end of 2025. Executive Chairman Francisco J. Riberas emphasised that the new Gujarat facility positions the enterprise as a trusted technological partner capable of meeting evolving safety and lightweighting requirements for automakers.
