Bajaj Auto will also look at establishing its presence in the electric three-wheeler portfolio with the GoGo brand.
Bajaj Auto revealed in its quarterly report that the brand will focus on making its 125 cc portfolio more competitive, which hit a new peak last quarter. We had already reported last month that Bajaj is working on a new 125 cc bike and that this upcoming bike might carry forward the “Pulsar P125” badge from before, about which you can learn more about it here.
While details about the upcoming 125 cc Pulsar are still in the wraps, we reckon it will carry forward the Pulsar N125’s 124.59 cc, single-cylinder engine. Wherein it produces 11.83 bhp and 11 Nm. So with the upcoming 125 cc bike, Bajaj might retune the engine for better fuel efficiency. Bajaj’s upcoming strategy with regards to its 125 cc portfolio comes amidst tumultuous times, wherein the brand’s domestic sales register slow demand. However, exports accelerated sharply.

Bajaj’s EV Growth
Simultaneously, Bajaj’s EV business has grown healthily, wherein it currently commands 20% of the brand’s domestic sales. This has been mainly due to the fact that the Chetak now leads the electric two-wheeler sales in the country. As a result, the sales volume of the Bajaj Chetak has doubled on a year-on-year basis. This rapid growth was mainly driven by the successive launch of several affordable variants of the Chetak, along with the rapid expansion of its dealership network to over 4,000 touchpoints. To carry forward this momentum, the report further stated that Bajaj Auto will further work on increasing the volume of the Chetak and strengthening its leadership position.

While the exact details of this strategy is yet to be declared are still under wraps, the objective here would be to mirror its leadership in the ICE category.
