Bajaj Auto might explore partnership potentials beyond the current 390 cc platform, planning for bikes up to 990 cc as well.

Bajaj Auto has emerged as quite the saviour to KTM AG ever since it announced its intention to save the Austrian giant from going bankrupt. Recently at an analyst briefing, the Akurdi-based marque revealed its plan for the Austrian brand and the potential this partnership holds. While KTM is yet to get back its Mattighofen plant up and running, as it has run out of components to make the bikes – so sourcing components and procuring synergies will be a major area of focus for Bajaj Auto in FY26.

Moreover, Bajaj Auto might also look beyond the LC4c platform with KTM for India production. `Production of KTM’s twin-cylinder engine platforms might be shifted to India. These were made in China with CFMoto. But with Bajaj’s takeover set to be complete, and the ceasing of CFMotos being sold out of KTM’s European outlets, there is a high possibility that Bajaj would bring this platform to India.

Rajiv Bajaj had earlier stated that KTM is too lucrative of a business for Bajaj Auto to let it go.

Additionally, Bajaj Auto will look forward to kickstarting KTM’s export business, wherein it expects an overall growth of 15-20 per cent once manufacturing commences. Plus, it will streamline the workflow of KTM’s entire business structure to restore its momentum and competitive growth. Bajaj is yet to complete its diagnosis of KTM’s situation, though.

On the other hand, Latin America has emerged as Bajaj’s new potential market, where the Dominar and Pulsar have become quite popular and command 65 per cent of the market mix. Bajaj’s African and Asian markets remain stable, with uncertain trading conditions.

The Freedom 125 has also reached 60,000 unit sales, and customer satisfaction remains high, with surveys showing delight in fuel savings. But a poorly developed network of low pumps remains a big hindrance for the Freedom 125 to rake in more sales. So the company will be diverting its resources to address these limitations as well.
