Bentley claims a 0–100 kmph time of just 3.4 seconds, half a second faster than its W12 predecessor, making it the quickest Bentayga to date.
Bentley has officially unveiled the new Bentayga Speed, now powered by an uprated twin-turbocharged V8 engine, marking a significant departure from the brand’s iconic W12 powertrain. The outgoing Bentayga Speed was powered by a 6.0-litre W12 engine, long considered a hallmark of Bentley’s performance line-up. With Bentley ceasing production of the W12, the new Bentayga Speed adopts a revised version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8. Output is rated at 641 bhp and 850 Nm of torque—an increase in power over the W12 model (626 bhp), though slightly lower in torque (down from 900 Nm).
Despite the reduction in torque, the new V8-powered Bentayga Speed is quicker. Bentley claims a 0–100 kmph time of just 3.4 seconds, half a second faster than its W12 predecessor and a full second quicker than the standard Bentayga V8 S. This makes it the quickest Bentayga to date.
A key focus of the updated model is its dynamic performance. Bentley has introduced a recalibrated ‘Sport’ driving mode, which stiffens the adaptive dampers by 15 per cent, relaxes the electronic stability control (ESC) to allow more aggressive driving dynamics—including controlled oversteer—and activates launch control. Complementing these changes are mechanical upgrades such as standard all-wheel steering and the option of carbon-ceramic brakes. These enhancements aim to reduce body roll and improve agility, particularly in high-speed cornering—unusual characteristics for a vehicle tipping the scales at over two-and-a-half tonnes.
Bentley claims the updated chassis and new driving mode "recalibrate expectations of handling, roadholding, acceleration and steering response for a luxury SUV". The Bentayga Speed’s new engine note is amplified through a standard-fit sports exhaust, with an Akrapovič titanium system available as an option for those seeking a more pronounced soundtrack.
Visually, the model retains the signature cues of Bentley’s Speed variants. These include dark-tinted exterior brightware, Speed badging, 22-inch alloy wheels (with 23-inch optional), and customisable brake calliper colours. Inside, the cabin features a new ‘Precision Diamond’ quilting pattern and a darker secondary leather theme, with bespoke trim and detailing that elevate the vehicle’s premium positioning.
While Bentley has yet to announce pricing for the new Bentayga Speed, it is expected to command a premium over the outgoing W12 model and the standard V8 variants, given its enhanced performance and upgraded specification.
