Responsible driving, environmental awareness, and fire safety are the first three social causes that BGMI players will be able to learn about.
While games are often accused of encouraging violence, Battlegrounds Mobile India, the hugely popular multiplayer online shooter, will soon be getting new maps that are designed to teach useful and productive skills and habits related to road safety, fire safety, and environmental conservation through immersive experiential gameplay. Krafton, the developer of BGMI, says that with the game recently surpassing 200 million downloads, it is now “redefining gaming’s role in society”.
The new set of three maps will be available in a new mode named World of Wonder. Gamers will be able to explore three scenarios. In the first, called “Fire Rescue – Be a Hero”, they can play through a fire evacuation simulation involving civilians who need to be evacuated and given first aid. The scenario aims to give players emergency response training and teach them how to react quickly. Such experience might some day help in a real-world emergency situation.
The second map, called “Environmental Crisis – Save Verdantia” puts gamers in the shoes of a conservationist who solves challenges uncovering sources of pollution and waste, planting trees, and taking actions to mitigate environmental damage. This map includes lessons on eco-friendly behaviour and aims to inculcate eco-conscious practices.

Finally, “Road Safety Rally” helps users experience challenging driving conditions while learning the rules of the road. The map promotes wearing helmets, following traffic rules, and yielding to pedestrians. Krafton says it aims to promote responsible driving habits.
The company says more such maps and experiences will be coming in the future, combining education and entertainment. Such a move could help create a more positive perception of gaming as a whole, while reaching audiences who already spend a lot of time in and are familiar with BGMI.
