The Bharat Maha EV Rally, the world's longest EV expedition, marked its 100th day at ICAT, Manesar. Traversing 28 States and 8 UTs, plus Bhutan and Nepal, the IFEVA-hosted rally promotes EV viability and charging infrastructure awareness.
The Bharat Maha EV Rally, acclaimed as the world's longest electric vehicle expedition, celebrated a major achievement by completing its 100th day upon arrival at the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) in Manesar, Haryana. The rally received an enthusiastic welcome from the entire ICAT team.
The event was officially flagged off from the ICAT campus by Shri Madhusudan Joshi (DGM - Technical Head), Shri Prashant Vijay (DGM - Operations), Shri Pawan Thakur (Media Head), Shri Pritam Singh, and other senior officials and staff members.
Organized under the esteemed patronage of Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon'ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, and Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon'ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, the rally has garnered widespread support from diverse stakeholders.
These include Chief Ministers, Governors, Central and State Ministers, leading EV manufacturers (both large-scale and MSMEs), dealers, distributors, and prestigious educational institutions such as IITs, IIMs, NITs, and universities nationwide.
To date, the rally has traversed 28 States and 8 Union Territories, encompassing Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Extending beyond borders, it has also visited Bhutan and Nepal.
The rally's core objectives include raising awareness about electric vehicles, dispelling myths and concerns surrounding EVs, and proving the viability of long-distance travel in electric mode. It has effectively highlighted India's expanding EV adoption and evolving charging infrastructure.
Throughout its journey, the rally has engaged with hundreds of educational institutions. Led by Dr. Rajeev Mishra, President of the International Federation of Electric Vehicle Association (IFEVA), the team has conducted interactive sessions at various IITs, IIMs, and universities, allowing students to drive EVs, participate in discussions, and pose insightful questions. Institutional leaders, including Directors and Vice Chancellors, have flagged off segments, sparking enthusiasm among students and faculty.
Hosted by IFEVA, the Bharat Maha EV Rally seeks to offer a thorough overview of India's electric mobility landscape. By collaborating with government bodies, industry players, academia, and consumers, it is collecting critical feedback to inform future policies and advance sustainable electric transportation.
