The new model marks the brand's most accessible luxury sedan offering in India.
BMW India has launched the new 2 Series Gran Coupe, at an ex-showroom price of ₹46.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Available in 218i M Sport and 218 M Sport Pro variants (₹48.90 lakh), the new model marks the brand's most accessible luxury sedan offering in India. Bookings are already open across dealerships for a token amount of ₹1.5 lakh.
The 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe now comes with a petrol-only powertrain, unlike the previous version that offered both petrol and diesel options. Under the hood, it gets a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 156 bhp and 230 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The car is positioned to take on rivals like the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine, which currently starts at ₹46.05 lakh and offers both petrol and diesel engine options. On paper, the A-Class offers slightly more power and torque, as well as the flexibility of a diesel variant. However, BMW aims to attract buyers with its sportier driving setup, premium features, and signature design.

In terms of aesthetics, the 2 Series retains its coupe-inspired silhouette with frameless doors and a sloping roofline. Updates include new 18-inch alloy wheels and fresh exterior colour choices: Black Sapphire, Brooklyn Grey Metallic, Alpine White, and M Portimao Blue Metallic.
Inside, the cabin gets a modern and tech-rich layout. Key features include a curved twin-display setup, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon premium audio system, powered front seats, 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control, Type-C USB ports, and ADAS features.
Compared to the A-Class, the 2 Series offers a more driver-focused experience but misses out on diesel and marginally higher output figures. That said, BMW’s focus on handling, luxury touches, and build quality could make it a compelling option for those seeking a stylish and tech-forward compact luxury sedan.
