The M Sport Pro commands a ₹2 lakh premium over the standard M Sport. We tell you why.
BMW India has launched the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupé, with prices starting at ₹46.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The entry-level luxury sedan is offered in two petrol-only trims, 218i M Sport and 218i M Sport Pro, both assembled locally at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai.

While both versions share the same engine and underpinnings, the M Sport Pro commands a ₹2 lakh premium over the standard M Sport. Here’s why:
Both variants are powered by the same 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque. Mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the car sprints from 0-100 kmph in 8.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 230 kmph. The car features a front-wheel-drive layout and no diesel or AWD options.

The Pro trim builds on the M Sport by adding more luxurious touches and tech enhancements.
The 2 Series Gran Coupé competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine, priced at ₹46.05 lakh for the petrol and ₹48.55 lakh for the diesel variant. BMW’s base M Sport is ₹85,000 more expensive than the base A-Class petrol, while the Pro trim is ₹2.85 lakh costlier than the top-end diesel variant.

If you’re after the fundamentals, strong design, performance, and an authentic BMW experience, the 218i M Sport is a well-rounded choice under ₹47 lakh. For those who value advanced tech, richer cabin lighting, and want more premium polish, the 218i M Sport Pro makes a compelling case at ₹48.90 lakh.
