The BMW 7 Series facelift will continue to be underpinned by the CLAR architecture like the outgoing model.
There’s something about BMW and its grilles. The signature Kidney grille was once a common identity across the BMW lineup, however, that seems to be diluted in the recent past with multiple variations of the grille developed. The recent trend from BMW has been to make grilles larger which have left the BMW fans a little polarised.
The German marque has now teased the 7 Series facelift on social media and the story remains the same. The teaser shows a shadowy image of the upcoming luxury saloon with a social media post copy that reads “Dedication reveals the path ahead. A tribute to the pursuit. The new BMW 7. Coming soon.” The facelifted 7 Series is now geared for a public unveiling at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show next month.
The current-gen BMW 7 Series has been around since 2022 and is bound for a mid-cycle refresh. The teaser focuses on the car’s front fascia, which appears to feature a revised lighting signature with slimmer, more horizontally oriented daytime running lights. These are positioned on either side of a larger, more squared-off illuminated kidney grille. The split headlight setup remains, though the lower clusters housing the main beams appear slightly smaller than before.
While design updates are expected to remain subtle and minimal, the new BMW 7 Series facelift is expected to receive many functional upgrades over the current model. At BMW 2026 Annual Conference, chairman Oliver Zipse confirmed that the facelifted BMW 7 Series will be the first existing model to adopt the “technology clusters” developed for the upcoming BMW Neue Klasse lineup. The new clusters will supposedly run on four central computing units which BMW calls “Superbrains”.

The upcoming 7 Series will continue to be underpinned by the CLAR architecture like the outgoing model. Hence, it is likely to retain the current set of powertrains including petrol, diesel and hybrid depending on the market. There are also rumors that BMW might add a performance-oriented V-8-powered M760i trim to the lineup as well.
In India, the BMW 7 Series is offered in two trims: 740i M Sport and 740d M Sport, both priced at ₹1.83 crore (ex-showroom). The former is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that develops 376 bhp and 520 Nm of peak torque, whereas the diesel unit produces 281 bhp and 650 Nm of peak torque. Both these engine options send power to the wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, and also get a 48V mild-hybrid system. We expect the new BMW 7 Series facelift to hit the Indian roads sometime next year.
