Constant depreciation of the Indian currency in the last few months has led to BMW increasing prices across all its models.
The beginning of a new calendar year typically sees automobile manufacturers announcing price increases across their model line-ups, either across the board or on select offerings. This holds true especially for luxury carmakers. Although BMW hadn’t revealed its intentions until now, the German marque has now officially confirmed the implementation of a 2-3 percent price hike across its entire portfolio in India.
In a recent interaction with Acko Drive, Hardeep Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, confirmed the same and revealed the reason behind it. While rising input cost due to inflation has been a challenge in the last few years, the constant depreciation of the Indian currency in the last few months has added more pressure on the OEMs.
Although BMW initially avoided price hikes, the company ultimately found it necessary to implement a 2–3 percent price increase to offset losses in the ongoing fiscal. Locally assembled models like 3 Series LWB, 5 Series LWB, X1, X5, and X7 will face a 2 percent hike whereas full imported CBU models like i7, iX, M5, M8, XM, and Z4 will witness a price hike of 3 percent. The last price hike announced by BMW in India came into effect on 1 September 2025.
The Indian rupee has depreciated nearly 10 percent against the Euro in 2025, putting pressure on costs. At present, 1 Euro equals approximately INR 105 whereas a year ago 1 Euro valued at INR 88-90. This sharp fall in valuation of the Indian rupee has made it tough for OEMs, especially European carmakers, to maintain price parity and a positive EBITDA.

Previously, BMW also announced a price hike on its two-wheelers effective January 2026. Prices of all models across the BMW Motorrad India lineup have been raised by 6 percent. The company offers a wide range of motorcycles in the country including locally made models such as G 310 RR, G 310 GS, and CE 02 along with fully-imported premium models like M 1000 RR, M 1000 R, S 1000 RR, S 1000 R, etc. The next big launch from BMW Motorrad will be the F 450 GS built and developed in collaboration with TVS. The adventure tourer is expected to launch in March this year.
