BMW said Nedeljković has been with the company since 1993, when he joined as a trainee. He has been on the Board of Management since 2019 and has been responsible for production.
In the statement, BMW said Nedeljković held posts at the Oxford, Leipzig and Munich plants and also served as head of corporate quality. His contract as chairman runs through 2031.
BMW supervisory board chairman Nicolas Peter said Zipse shaped the development of the BMW Group and was linked with the Neue Klasse project. Peter also said Nedeljković brings a goal-oriented approach and focus on resource use.

The company said the annual meeting will also consider the re-election of Dr Christian Bruch to the Supervisory Board for four years. The term of former ThyssenKrupp executive Heinrich Hiesinger ends with the close of the meeting. BMW said a separate meeting of preferred shareholders will also be held to decide on the conversion of all preferred shares into ordinary shares.
