The new roadster will be powered by the same 1300 cc boxer twin as the R 1300 GS adventure bike
BMW Motorrad has teased the arrival of its big boxer twin roadster motorcycle for 2025. The upcoming R 1300 R will be revealed in its entirety on April 10 and should make it down to the country in the coming few months. BMW is expected to slap on an asking price of around ₹22 lakh - ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom India) for the same.
No prizes for guessing that the upcoming R 1300 R will be powered by the same 1300 cc boxer twin that debuted on the new-gen big daddy GS: the R 1300 GS. We rode the bike last year and were impressed with the weight saving that has taken place with the engine.
It has made the ADV far more compact and easier to manage on a daily basis while increasing the performance on tap: 143.5 bhp and 149 Nm, which is 10 bhp and 6 Nm more than before. What we are yet to find out is whether BMW will use the same tune for the roadster and if the Automated Shift Assistant gearbox (BMW lingo for AMT) from the R 1300 GS Adventure will be found on the R 1300 R.
The teaser does showcase the same headlight design as the other BMW Motorrad naked motorcycles on sale, like the S 1000 R and M 1000 R. Expect a muscular tank and minimalist tail section for the same. We will hear more details on the new Bavarian roadster on April 10. So stay tuned to this space.
