The X1 LWB could find a lot of appeal among rear legroom obsessed buyers in India.
BMW India will launch the long-wheelbase (LWB) iteration of the X1 SUV on August 21, 2026. Following the prior introduction of the electric iX1 LWB, the incoming combustion engine model is set to become BMW’s most affordable long-wheelbase petrol and diesel vehicle available in the country.
Compared to the standard-wheelbase X1, the X1 LWB features noticeable dimensional revisions aimed at improving rear-cabin legroom and comfort. The extended model stretches to an overall length of 4,616 mm, standing 1,641 mm tall with a stretched wheelbase of 2,802 mm. This translates to an additional 116 mm in overall length, 11 mm in height, and a 110 mm longer wheelbase over the outgoing standard counterpart.

Exterior aesthetics remain largely untouched, maintaining BMW's signatures like the large front kidney grille, sleek twin-pod LED headlights, and L-shaped LED taillights.
Inside, the additional footprint directly benefits rear passengers, providing expanded knee and leg room. The cabin layout will showcase BMW’s signature curved display setup, featuring a 10.25-inch digital driver display integrated alongside a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen running the latest iDrive OS. Key feature offerings will include multi-zone climate control, a premium Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless phone charger, electric front seats, and a powered tailgate.
Under the hood, the X1 LWB is expected to carry over the existing powertrain configurations, including a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol unit and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, paired with automatic transmissions.
