Boson Cell has launched India’s first lithium-ion cell production, introducing 18350 B-30A and 21700 B-50A cells for drones, EVs, and renewable energy.
Chennai-based Boson Cell launched commercial production of lithium-ion cells. It has also unveiled its 18350 B-30A and 21700 B-50A cells.
These cells, designed for drones, electric vehicles (EVs), and renewable energy systems, mark India’s first step towards self-sufficient cell manufacturing, reducing reliance on imported technology.
Boson Cell’s units deliver 1,000 recharge cycles, significantly outperforming the 350 cycles offered by typical Chinese alternatives. With high energy density and strong discharge capabilities, they support applications like solar systems and power tools.
With India’s drone market expected to hit $13 billion by 2030, Boson’s lightweight, high-performance cells are claimed to cater to agriculture, defence, and logistics, alongside EVs and renewable energy systems.
The company’s eco-friendly production process includes rigorous multi-stage testing to ensure reliability and sustainability.
India’s lithium-ion battery market is projected to reach $9.56 billion by 2030, driven by government initiatives such as FAME II, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, and the Drone Shakti initiative. These policies aim to boost domestic manufacturing and curb imports, with Boson Cell at the forefront.
Boson Cell offers competitive order quantities and faster delivery than imported alternatives. Available via Amazon, Flipkart, electronics retailers, and local stores, the company plans nationwide expansion by 2025, targeting a 10% domestic market share by 2030.
