BYD Atto 3 facelift could get a 74.88 kWh battery, 650 km CLTC range, and a more powerful 230 kW motor.
BYD has filed details of an updated Atto 3 electric SUV with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The refreshed model, known as Yuan Plus in China, will feature a larger 74.880 kWh Blade LFP battery pack, delivering a claimed 650 km CLTC range, a significant jump from the current 430 km (49.92 kWh) and 510 km (60.48 kWh) variants.
According to the filing, the updated Atto 3 will be powered by a 230 kW (308 bhp) permanent magnet synchronous motor, an increase of 80 kW (107 bhp) over the existing 150 kW (201 bhp) unit. Top speed rises from 160 km/h to 180 km/h. Despite the larger battery, dimensions remain unchanged at 4,455/1,875/1,615 mm with a 2,720 mm wheelbase.
Curb weight increases to 1,880 kg, which is 190 kg to 255 kg heavier than the current model (1,625-1,690 kg), due to the bigger battery.
Exterior changes are minimal: new double five-spoke grey alloy wheels (18-inch) with 215/55 front and 235/50 rear tyres. The charging port has been relocated from the right front fender to the right rear fender. A panoramic sunroof is standard; front/side radars, cameras, and window trim are optional.
In India, BYD sells the Atto 3 with a 60.48 kWh battery offering 521 km (ARAI) range, priced at ₹33.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The updated version with 650 km CLTC and 308 bhp could strengthen BYD’s position in the premium EV segment, especially against rivals like the XEV 9e and Harrier Electric. However, BYD must launch the updated model without delays in India to stay relevant.
