Positioned to replace the outgoing BYD e6 MPV, the eMAX 7 will hover in the same price range as the Toyota Innova HyCross and Maruti Suzuki Invicto.
BYD India is set to open pre-bookings for its latest electric offering, the BYD eMAX 7, ahead of its official launch on October 8, 2024. The pre-booking will require a token amount of ₹51,000. Positioned to replace the outgoing BYD e6 MPV, the eMAX 7 will hover around the same price range as the Toyota Innova HyCross and Maruti Suzuki Invicto in India. It will join BYD’s current EV lineup, which includes the BYD Atto 3 and the BYD Seal electric sedan.
BYD is offering early-bird benefits to its first 1,000 customers, including benefits worth ₹51,000 and a complimentary 7 kW or 3 kW charger. These offers are valid for pre-bookings completed before the launch date on October 8, with deliveries to be made by March 25, 2025. Deliveries are expected to commence soon after the launch. Though the official pricing remains unannounced, we estimate that the BYD eMAX 7 will likely be priced between ₹25 lakh and ₹33 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The eMAX 7 will be available in both 6- and 7-seat configurations, offering flexibility for different family sizes. Externally, it will share some design elements with the outgoing e6, though it will feature a new front fascia and updated rear lights. The vehicle will also ride on newly designed wheels to set it apart visually.
Inside, the cabin will be finished in a dual-tone beige and black colour scheme, with a range of luxury features, including power-adjustable front seats and a power-operated rear door. The dashboard will host two digital screens, one for infotainment and the other serving as the instrument cluster.
One of the most significant upgrades over the previous BYD e6 is the performance of the eMAX 7. The new MPV will be equipped with a 204 bhp electric motor, a marked increase from the e6’s 94 bhp. Additionally, torque will rise from 180 Nm to 310 Nm, contributing to better acceleration and overall driving dynamics. This enhanced performance is supported by a larger 71.8 kWh battery, which allows the eMAX 7 to achieve a driving range of 530 km on a single charge – a 30 km improvement over the e6.
