BYD is all set to introduce a new electric vehicle in India, the eMax 7, on October 8. The upcoming MPV will replaces the older E6 and at the same time it will also debut with several improvements.
For starters, the eMax 7 will have three rows of seats. Thereby, it can fit either six or seven people, depending on the layout. The exterior design will be similar to the E6. However, the front fascia will boast a new look. On the side, the eMax 7 will ride on different wheels, and similarly, the rear fascia will also get a pair of updated taillight designs.
Inside, the eMAX 7 is slated to get a beige and black colour scheme. It will boast several creature comfort features like power-adjustable front seats and a power-operated rear door. On the features front, two digital screens will adorn the dashboard—one for the infotainment and the other for the instrument cluster. These additions aim to make the eMax 7 more luxurious than its predecessor.

Performance-wise, the eMax 7 will be more powerful than the outgoing E6. It is slated to produce 204 bhp, up from 94 bhp in the E6. Torque will also be increased from 180 Nm to 310 Nm, which should make the car quicker and easier to drive. This increased performance will come courtesy of a slightly bigger battery size at 71.8 kWh. The larger battery allows the eMax 7 to drive up to 530 km on a single charge, 30 km more than the E6.
The company expects the eMax 7 to be popular with both private buyers and businesses like high-end hotels and taxi services. It will compete with cars like the Toyota Innova in the Indian market. And while BYD hasn't announced the price yet, experts think it might cost between ₹25 to ₹33 lakh (ex-showroom). This price puts it in the premium category for MPVs in India.
