The Sealion 7 will be BYD’s fourth model in India and is expected to be priced around ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The BYD Sealion 7 electric SUV will make its India debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Exp 2025. Along with the new SUV, BYD India will also some of its global models on display in India. It will also showcase its current portfolio which includes the Seal sedan, Atto 3 SUV and eMAX 7 MPV.
The Sealion 7 is BYD’s fourth model in the brand’s Ocean Series globally and second in India. The Sealion 7 gets two battery packs – an 82.5 kWh and a 91.3 kWh battery pack with a range of up to 502 km. Like the Seal, the Sealion 7 also comes with a rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive powertrain. BYD claims the Sealion 7’s larger battery pack can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 24 minutes using a 230 kW DC charger. The smaller battery pack takes 32 minutes using a 150 kW DC charger. It uses BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 architecture.
BYD’s upcoming electric SUV has four driving modes – Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow. Front and centre in the cabin is the large 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that can also be seen in the Seal. The other screen is a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster, aided by a head-up display in the top-spec variant. The Sealion 7 also uses a different steering wheel compared to the Seal, Atto 3 and eMAX 7.
The Sealion 7 measures 4830 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2930 mm. It is 1925 mm wide and 1620 mm tall. This will make the Sealion 7 the largest BYD model in India. The Sealion 7 looks sporty with its C-shaped LED headlamps, similar to the Seal, as well as its sloping roofline. Even the taillamps are quite similar in design to the Seal.
BYD will launch the Sealion 7 in India by March 2025 and it is expected to be priced around ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It will likely rival the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (₹46.30 lakh) and Volvo EX40 (₹56.10 lakh).
