CEAT Ltd., one of India’s leading tyre manufacturers, has launched the SecuraDrive CIRCL, the country’s first passenger car tyre with up to 90 per cent sustainable (bio-based) materials. The tyre, developed at CEAT’s R&D hub in Halol, Gujarat, will be available in two variants — 50 per cent and 90 per cent sustainable content — priced at ₹8,999 and ₹12,999, respectively.
The product marks a milestone in CEAT’s push towards premiumisation and sustainability. The company claims the tyre blends eco-conscious design with safety and performance, targeting urban consumers in the 25–45 age group who increasingly view sustainability as both a responsibility and lifestyle choice.
CEAT’s innovation includes three industry-first breakthroughs: a unified biopolymer inner liner that reduces emissions in manufacturing, a glycerol-based accelerator replacing petroleum-derived chemicals, and an anti-static silica-based conductive solution that removes the need for carbon black while retaining passenger safety.
“This is a breakthrough that demonstrates how India can set new benchmarks in sustainable mobility,” said Arnab Banerjee, MD & CEO of CEAT Ltd. “By achieving 90 per cent sustainable content in a road-ready tyre, CEAT is redefining performance and eco-innovation.”

The tyre industry has seen a global shift towards sustainability, with international majors like Michelin and Bridgestone announcing long-term goals of achieving 100 per cent sustainable tyres by 2050. Michelin has already tested prototypes with nearly 50 per cent sustainable materials, while Bridgestone has introduced renewable rubber initiatives.
In India, domestic rivals MRF, Apollo Tyres, and JK Tyre have taken steps in sustainability — focusing largely on energy-efficient plants, green energy usage, and recycling initiatives — but have yet to bring a high-content sustainable passenger tyre to market. CEAT’s move places it ahead in the race for eco-friendly innovation in the Indian market.
Industry analysts note that the product could appeal to premium urban buyers but will need consumer acceptance at scale, especially given the higher price point of the 90% sustainable variant. The success of CIRCL may also push competitors to accelerate their green tyre programmes in the coming years.
The tyres will be available at CEAT’s premium retail outlets and dealerships across major cities starting September 2025.
