Global launch positions CFMoto as a player in the mid-range supersport market
CFMoto has officially unveiled the production-ready version of its highly anticipated 675 SR-R sport motorcycle. It's a significant step for the Chinese manufacturer as this one fills the gap in the performance bike segment portfolio.
Previously showcased as a prototype in China, the CFMoto 675 SR-R has a unique design with aggressive LED DRLs, aerodynamic winglets, and a sculpted fuel tank that flows seamlessly into the tail section. These features give the bike a high-performance look that rivals established names in the super-sport segment.
At the heart of the 675 SR-R lies CFMoto's first foray into three-cylinder territory. The 675cc engine utilises a 120-degree crankshaft layout for smooth power delivery and revs up to a lofty 12,300 rpm. While official figures are still under wraps, power is expected to exceed 100 bhp. The engine has dual overhead camshafts and individual throttle bodies. It's all managed by Bosch fuel injection.
Bolstering the CFMoto 675 SR-R's aggressive performance is a trellis frame crafted from high-tensile steel. This lightweight yet rigid design provides a solid foundation for handling and control. Suspension duties are handled by a fully adjustable KYB setup, featuring a 41mm USD fork and a monoshock at the rear.
Stopping power comes courtesy of J.Juan brakes. These are radially mounted four-piston callipers gripping dual 300 mm discs up front and a single-piston calliper paired with a 240mm disc at the rear.
Tipping the scales at a kerb weight of 194.5 kg the CFMoto 675 SR-R finds itself in a competitive weight range for the mid-range super-sport segment. This weight, combined with the expected high horsepower output, promises a thrilling power-to-weight ratio that translates to exciting acceleration and nimble handling on the track or twisty roads.
This aggressive powertrain, coupled with the lightweight design, positions the CFMoto 675 SR-R as a potential competitor to the Triumph Daytona 660. The recent unveiling of the Triumph Daytona left some fans feeling a little deflated. The new Daytona took a more relaxed, touring-friendly approach, a departure from the high-performance legacy of the Daytona name. With Daytona taking a more touring-friendly approach, the CFMoto presents an opportunity for the Chinese brand to establish itself in the European market for riders seeking a sharper, track-focused experience like the previous generations of the Triumph Daytona 675.
