Citroën India has announced that the C3 hatchback will now be offered with a CNG kit. However, it won’t be a factory-level fitment but rather a dealer-level fitment. The CNG kit provided for C3 buyers costs ₹93,000.
The CNG kit is available on the Live, Feel, Feel (O) and Smart trims of the C3. It’s also only available with the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and not the turbo-petrol engine. Citroën claims that the engine with the CNG kit has a fuel efficiency of 28.1 km/kg. Its rivals include the Tata Tiago CNG, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG and Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG. The Tiago has a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.49 km/kg (MT) and 28.06 km/kg (AMT), the Grand i10 Nios returns 27 km/kg, while the Swift is the most efficient at 32.85 km/kg (claimed).
C3 CNG Variants | Price (ex-showroom, India) |
---|---|
Live | ₹7.16 lakh |
Feel | ₹7.41 lakh |
Feel (O) | ₹8.45 lakh |
Shine | ₹9.09 lakh |
Citroën is even offering a 3-year/ 1,00,000 km warranty on the CNG kit and its added components. These components will include retuned rear shock absorbers to handle the added weight and an anti-roll bar to improve the ride quality. Because of these upgrades, the C3 is ready to handle the added weight and existing customers will need to check with the dealer if their cars can accommodate the CNG kit. The 55-litre CNG tank will be installed by Lovato and there will be a CNG filling nozzle near the fuel-filler area.
Shishir Mishra, Business Head & Director – Strategic Partnerships & Institutional Business, Stellantis India, said, “The CNG-enabled C3 is a strategic step forward for institutional customers, especially fleet operators, ride-share drivers, and last-mile mobility providers who value operational savings without compromising on quality and reliability."
