The two new variants are aimed at capturing customers who want very specific combinations of features.
Citroën India has introduced a new variant each of its Aircross X compact SUV and C3 hatchback, in response to customer and dealer feedback that it says showed where more choices were desired. The new variants are aimed at capturing more potential customers and catering to specific price points that were previously unaddressed. Interestingly, these variants will only be manufactured on demand based on actual bookings, so that there is no backlog with dealerships.
The company says this approach to manufacturing leverages retail intelligence and customer sentiment, allowing it to be agile and more disciplined with capital expenditure. Customers will be made aware of the expected delivery timeline, as their unit is prepared. More models and variants will be produced under this model in the future.
This new variant boasts of an extra 60 mm of knee room in the second row, a rear centre armrest with cupholders, and three-step seat recline for the rear seats for more comfort and flexibility. The Max trim level was previously only available in a 7-seat configuration.
It will be available in three colours: Polar White, Deep Forest Green, and Perla Nera Black, with Fauve Dark Brown interiors. Pricing starts at ₹12.41 lakh (ex-showroom) for this variant with a manual transmission.
This new variant of the C3 offers leatherette seats, a 10.1-inch Android-based infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, built-in speakers, a rearview camera, chrome-touch fog lamps, full wheel covers, body-side cladding with chrome inserts, and Wheel arch cladding.
It is positioned a step above the base Live trim, which is Citroën’s lowest-cost offering in India and is aimed at price-conscious first-time buyers and those upgrading from an older entry-level car. It will be an upsell for those who still want better features and more comfort at this price level. It will be sold only in Perla Nera Black, for ₹5.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
In a press statement, Kumar Priyesh, Business Head and Director, Automotive Brands, Stellantis India, said “Guided by the Citroën 2.0 strategy for India we listen closely, act quickly and build what customers ask for. By moving to a bookings-led mechanism for select variants, we can align capacity with real demand, sharpen our portfolio and bring stronger value to customers. The Aircross X Max Turbo (5-seater) and C3 Live (O) are the first outcomes under this approach, with rolling actions planned. This is just the beginning as we remain agile to demand signals.”
