Dacia has revealed the 100 per cent electric Hipster Concept, offering everyday mobility in an ultra-compact package designed to halve the life-cycle carbon footprint of current EVs. Measuring just 3,000 mm long, 1,550 mm wide and 1,530 mm high, the Hipster hosts four proper seats and a boot that spans 70 to 500 litres, yet weighs 20 per cent less than the Spring.

Built on Dacia’s “Eco-Smart” philosophy, the concept’s minimal weight slashes raw materials, manufacturing energy and driving energy alike. The sleek block-on-wheels exterior features no overhangs, horizontal headlights, a two-part tailgate and recyclable Starkle side protection. Inside, a cubic cabin with vertical glazing and sliding windows maximises space. Front occupants share a simple bench, while all seats employ visible-frame mesh for comfort, weight and cost efficiency.

Connectivity prioritises Bring-Your-Own-Device: a smartphone docks as digital key, multimedia screen and audio hub, interfacing with Dacia’s YouClip accessory anchors. Safety systems include dual airbags and a robust chassis tuned for everyday urban and suburban use with just two recharges a week for typical daily travel.

From Concept to Showroom: What to Expect

  • Production Version: Likely to leverage the Renault-Nissan CMF-A EV platform (as in Spring), adapted for Hipster’s dimensions and efficiencies.
  • Battery & Range: Official capacity unannounced; the concept’s energy requirements suggest a compact pack in the 20–30 kWh range, targeting ~150 km real-world range (sufficient for twice-weekly charging).
  • Launch Timeline: Dacia indicators point to a 2026–2027 production start, contingent on regulatory frameworks for ultra-compact EVs in Europe.

The Hipster Concept reimagines mobility essentials—simplicity, affordability and sustainability—echoing the societal impact of the original Logan and poised to become the new “people’s EV”.
