As part of the Delhi electric bus project, GreenCell Mobility will provide 12-metre, air-conditioned electric city buses with higher battery capacities.
GreenCell Mobility (GCM), an electric bus platform and part of Eversource Capital's portfolio, on Monday announced the deployment of 570 electric buses in Delhi in the coming months, in a bid to expand the capital's zero-emission public transport. The rollout follows the conclusion of an $89 million investment round by International Finance Corporation (IFC), British International Investment (BII), and Tata Capital.
As part of the Delhi electric bus project, GreenCell Mobility will provide 12-metre, air-conditioned electric city buses with higher battery capacities, specifically designed to meet Delhi's operating requirements and challenging road conditions. The buses will operate from depots at Rajghat, Dilshad Garden, and Seemapuri, strengthening commuter connectivity and enhancing the quality of public transport services across key routes in the city.

The Delhi government conducted a flag-off event at Ramlila Maidan for 500 electric buses, led by CM Rekha Gupta.
Each bus is equipped with advanced operational and safety features, including an Integrated Transport Management System (ITMS), Passenger Information Systems, real-time vehicle tracking, internal and reversing cameras, and differently abled friendly infrastructure, ensuring safe, accessible and efficient mobility for all passengers.
"Delhi's electric bus rollout represents the next phase of India's public transport transition from pilots to scaled, city-wide adoption. This deployment showcases how institutional capital, policy intent and operational capability can come together to deliver clean mobility at scale. Our focus is not just on adding electric buses but on building a reliable, technology-led public transport ecosystem that cities can depend on over the long term," Devndra Chawla, MD & CEO, GreenCell Mobility, said in a statement.
Apart from Delhi, GreenCell Mobility is handling large-scale electric city bus projects across multiple states, including 700 buses in Uttar Pradesh, 582 buses in Madhya Pradesh, 750 buses in Andhra Pradesh, 400 buses in Bihar, 150 buses in Surat, and 75 buses in Puducherry. The firm also operates 50 intercity electric buses for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), reinforcing its presence across both urban and intercity mobility segments.
Backed by Eversource Capital, GreenCell Mobility currently operates a fleet of over 1,200 electric buses across intra-city and inter-city routes, supported by more than 270 charging stations.
