The Vespa scooters receive a touch of modern features
At EICMA 2023, Piaggio revealed the upgraded versions of its "small body" scooters, the Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S. These models feature enhanced styling and tech updates.
The Primavera and Sprint S have a more compact build with fully enclosed handlebars, new grips, and switchgear. Changes include a redesigned front shield, new cast aluminium wheels for the Primavera, and six-spoked wheels for the Sprint S. Unique headlight designs include a round LED unit for the Primavera and a hexagonal one for the Sprint S to maintain the retro visuals. . Further differentiating the scooters are their colour schemes. The Vespa Primavera is offered with five main body colour choices with chrome finishings, while the Sprint S features dedicated graphics and bold black details, depending on the chosen main colour.
Both the Vespa scooters are available with petrol-powered engines in 50 cc, 125 cc, and 150 cc options. These engines feature a three-valve head and SOHC in an air-cooled configuration. These engines are now fully compliant with the Euro5+(BS6) emissions regulations for 2024.
Primavera and Sprint S both also have electric options. The Vespa Primavera offers three variants, Primavera, Primavera Tech, and Elettrica, while the Vespa Sprint S has Sprint S and Sprint S Elettrica.
There is a keyless start system and TFT instrumentation on the Primavera Tech version. The Vespa MIA multimedia platform gets a new instrument panel and a full LED lighting system. Connectivity functions are integrated into the instrument console across all models, with the top model getting the Vespa MIA infotainment app. For the Vespa Primavera Tech 125 and 150 models, riders benefit from a 5-inch TFT dash, delivering an informative display.
Whether these updates will trickle down on the Vespa India scooters is unclear. As it’s the Vespa scooters are priced at a premium and these feature upgrades will further drive up the pricing. We are unsure if these scooters are India bound.
