Aprilia's flagship RSV4 superbike is getting a major technological overhaul for the 2025 model year, drawing heavily from the brand's successful MotoGP programme.
At the forefront are significant advancements in aerodynamics and electronic rider aids. The new bodywork design, highlighted by prominent winglets beneath the headlights, delivers an 8 per cent improvement in wheelie control while simultaneously reducing drag by 6 per cent compared to the outgoing model.
On the electronics front, Aprilia has introduced a predictive control strategy that monitors real-time data to optimise interventions from systems like traction control, wheelie control, and yaw control. Notably, the wheelie control can even "learn the rider's characteristics" to provide track-focused performance.
Beyond these cutting-edge features, Aprilia has also extracted more power from the RSV4's 1,099 cc V4 engine, now rated at 220 bhp at 13,100 rpm - a claim that makes it "the world's most powerful homologated production superbike," according to the company.
Moving to the chassis, the base Aprilia RSV4 model retains its proven underpinnings but gains a lighter top triple clamp. For the premium Factory variant, Aprilia has fitted Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension, which can be adjusted on a corner-by-corner basis when paired with the included GPS module. This allows for tailored suspension settings to match the rider's preferences and the circuit conditions.
Braking has also been upgraded, with both models benefitting from the latest Brembo Hypure calipers, providing exceptional stopping power.
The base RSV4 and Factory variant benefit from additional updates, including customisable electronic settings. The Factory model takes things further with specialised track-focused features like launch control, pit limiter, race dashboard, etc. It also gets cruise control as an option.
With these substantial enhancements, Aprilia is aiming to maintain the RSV4's reputation as a technological tour de force that seamlessly bridges the gap between the racetrack and the road.
