Hero claims that the new Xtreme 250R is its fastest bike yet.

Hero MotoCorp made some pretty grand announcements in Milan today. The brand will, after all, enter the premium European market, so being in top-notch shape is one of the biggest prerequisites. As part of that big agenda, Hero today launched a new quarter-litre naked street bike, the Xtreme 250R.

Built around the same frame as the current generation Karizma XMR, the Hero Xtreme 250R upgrades the package with a premium 43 mm USD fork and a monoshock setup. As for its aesthetics, the Hero Xtreme 250R has an aggressive body design but looks meaner and bigger. The muscular fuel tank feels better sculpted here, and the overall appeal feels quite premium. However, the Xtreme 250R looks more compact with a shorter wheelbase, than the Karizma XMR. The overall styling of the new Xtreme 250R is muscular and in your face, which will appeal to a lot of bikers, especially youngsters.

Nestled below the steel trellis architecture is the brand new 250 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 29.58 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 25 Nm at 7,250 rpm, almost 4 bhp and 5 Nm more powerful than the 210 cc mill that powers the Karizma XMR. The suspension hardware is also up to date, as it gets a USD fork and a mono-shock unit. Stopping power is courtesy disc brakes on both ends, and dual-channel ABS will come as standard. Hero says that the Xtreme 250R can reach 0-60 kmph in around 3 seconds,

On the features front, Hero MotoCopr has debuted a brand new colour TFT cluster. This unit supports smartphone connectivity, thereby enabling turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS and notification alerts. Different ride modes are also on offer, which will further give riders access to more flexible performance. Lastly, a USB C-type charger will also be available as standard. The Hero Xtreme 250R will compete against the Honda CB300F, Suzuki Gixxer 250, and the KTM 250 Duke.
