Hero hasn’t yet confirmed whether the Mavrick Scrambler 440 will make it to India, although it was patented here some time ago.
The Mavrick 440 may not have found tremendous success in India, but Hero MotoCorp is pinning its hopes on foreign markets for this motorcycle to shine. Last month, the world’s largest bike manufacturer launched the Mavrick in Europe, rebranded as Hunk 400. Now, Hero has unveiled yet another model called Hunk 440 SX at the ongoing EICMA 2025 in Milan, Italy.
The Hunk 440 SX is essentially a scrambler version of the Mavrick that has been around for some time. A few months ago, Hero even filed a design patent for it in India, suggesting the company is indeed contemplating launching the Mavrick Scrambler here at some point in the future.
Let us take a look at the Hunk 440 SX, which will most likely be renamed Mavrick Scrambler when launched in its home country.
The overall design of the Hunk 440 SX is similar to that of its roadster sibling with many of the same body parts used. However, the Hunk 440 SX gets quite a few subtle visual differences, such as a flyscreen, a bigger 18-inch front wheel, different wheel designs at both ends, split seats, a different grab rail, a longer rear fender, an upswept twin-port exhaust, a braced handlebar, hand guards, a large engine guard, and a new tail lamp.

All these changes give the Hunk 440 SX a more rugged appearance, as expected from a typical scrambler.
Interestingly, Hero has opted for a gaited telescopic fork for the Hunk 440 SX as opposed to the Hunk 440’s upside-down fork. Hero has also decided to use an electronic throttle for the Hunk 440 SX, which enables new functions such as multiple ride modes, ride-by-wire, switchable ABS, and traction control.
Although Hero hasn’t officially revealed this new bike’s exact powertrain specs, the Hunk 440 SX employs the same 440cc air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder motor as its roadster derivative. This unit churns out 27 bhp and 36 Nm of peak torque, and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. As for convenience, the Hunk 440 SX comes equipped with the same TFT instrument panel, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and ride data logging features as the Hunk 440.
