The electronically-controlled compressor in the new 900cc V3 engine from Honda is capable of outputs equivalent to 1,200cc mills.
Honda has taken the wraps off the V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype, the world’s first motorcycle to feature a V3 engine equipped with an electronically controlled compressor, at the EICMA 2025 show in Milan. This innovation marks a major leap in motorcycle engineering and represents a bold step toward the brand’s Honda 2030 Vision of delivering the joy and freedom of mobility.
Developed under the unique concept of “Non-Rail Roller Coaster,” the V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype has been designed to deliver two seemingly opposite qualities — “guaranteed thrill” and “reassuring peace of mind.” This model is a result of Honda’s ongoing pursuit of creating motorcycles that exceed customer expectations while embodying cutting-edge performance and technology.
At its core, the prototype is powered by a 900cc water-cooled 75-degree V3 engine, an evolution of the concept revealed at EICMA 2024. The electronically controlled compressor, a first-of-its-kind innovation for motorcycles, enables precise management of intake air compression regardless of engine speed.

This results in instant torque delivery even at low rpm. Honda claims that this setup offers performance comparable to that of a 1200cc engine while maintaining superior environmental efficiency. Hence, this electronic compressor essentially acts as a turbocharger. That said, Honda is yet to officially reveal the specifications and the exact output of this new engine.
The motorcycle’s design is equally distinctive, featuring asymmetrical side cowls and a new “Honda Flagship WING” tank emblem, which will adorn future flagship Honda models beginning in 2026. The V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype embodies Honda’s ongoing quest to blend aesthetic sophistication with mechanical excellence. As development continues toward mass production, the V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype is bound to be the next big technological advancement in the field of two-wheelers
