Delhi-based intercity electric bus company LeafyBus has raised $4.1 million from Enetra India Private Limited, backed by Singapore's Impact Capital Asia Management. The funding will help the startup grow its fleet from 10 buses to over 100 within two years.
LeafyBus currently operates on the Delhi-Dehradun route and plans to expand across major cities, including Agra, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Patna. The company is the only operator in India running long-distance electric buses using the country's first 360 kW fast-charging station. LeafyBus currently completes three daily trips on the Delhi-Dehradun route, covering 900 km within 24 hours using its advanced charging infrastructure. The company focuses on safety features, including dedicated helplines for women, panic buttons, reserved seating, and monitoring systems.
"India's intercity transport system is on the brink of a major transformation. Moving toward electric mobility over long distances is about more than just cutting emissions…it's about creating a safer, more reliable, and comfortable travel experience for millions," said Rohan Dewan, Founder and CEO of LeafyBus.
Neeraj Gupta, Founder and Managing Director of Enetra India Private Limited, said: "We believe that electric mobility is essential to reducing the environmental impact of India's transport sector. LeafyBus's careful execution and focus on passenger experience demonstrate their commitment to this goal."
