BMW Motorrad India recently launched the CE 04, the German brand's flagship electric scooter in our country. The BMW CE 04 holds the distinction of being the most expensive electric scooter to ever go on sale in India at ₹ 14.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The other electric product in BMW Motorrad’s portfolio is the CE 02 and we have got confirmation that the CE 04’s little sibling is heading to our market soon. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the BMW CE 02 is manufactured in India by TVS at its Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu, and exported to global markets. It's the first electric bike to be manufactured as part of the TVS-BMW partnership which commenced with the G 310 series of bikes.

Similar to the CE 04, the CE 02 also sports a very unique styling. The design seems to be inspired by monkey bikes, which makes it really stand out. It does remind us of the quirky Honda Navi but the overall appearance is much more futuristic and radical. Moving on to the specs, the BMW electric bike is equipped with a 2 kWh battery pack and a peak power output of 11kW and 54.9 Nm. With respect to performance, the CE 02 has a top speed of 95 kmph and a range of 90 km, which is less than many electric scooters on sale in our country such as the Ola S1 and Ather 450.
The BMW CE 02 retails for €8,500 equivalent to ₹ 7.72 lakh, which is a lot of money given the specs and performance. Since the electric bike is manufactured in India, the pricing could be close to ₹ 5 lakh (ex-showroom). The BMW CE 02 might go on sale during the festive season and could be among the highlights of the upcoming BMW Joytown events.
