The Skoda Kushaq facelift promises minimal changes to the exterior but the cabin is expected to get some extensive upgrades, including segment-first features and additional safety tech.
We have got our hands on the Skoda Kushaq facelift test mule ahead of the model’s launch in a few weeks. The Skoda Kushaq arrived in 2021 and the model is all set to arrive with comprehensive changes. The test mule has been partially camouflaged at the front and rear, which is where majority of the cosmetic changes will be visible. The cabin, though, is expected to arrive with more extensive upgrades.
The Skoda Kushaq facelift promises minimal changes to the exterior. Expect the new face to get the same design language as the Kylaq, with tweaks to the grille, headlamps, taillights, as well as the front and rear bumpers. The alloy wheels could be different too on the updated model.

In the cabin, expect to see more creature comforts on the Kushaq facelift in a bid to up the latest rivals in the compact SUV segment. Skoda is expected to add features such as a panoramic sunroof, a digital instrument console, a revamped touchscreen infotainment system with new graphics, and an improved air conditioning system. Furthermore, the automaker is expected to add rear disc brakes on the 1.5-litre TSI version, while both engine options are likely to get Level 2 ADAS on the top trims. A recent report suggests that Skoda will introduce a segment-first massage function for the rear seats, setting the model apart from its rivals. We would also like to see a 360-degree camera, and better camera quality overall on the SUV.
Skoda will continue using the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine options. The former produces 113 bhp, while the latter is good for 148 bhp. Current transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a torque converter, but the facelifted model could see the 6-speed automatic being replaced by an 8-speed torque converter. The 1.5 TSI, meanwhile, will continue with the 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic transmission choices. Expect the Kushaq to command a higher price tag with the update.

The compact SUV segment is an intensely contested space at the moment with new launches like the Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Victoris. This space will further see heat from the new-generation Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton SUV, set to arrive later in the year. While the Kushaq gets appreciation for its drive-ability, the SUV loses out on being a complete package when compared to the segment leaders. The facelift aims to change a lot of that.
