The pass remains valid for one year or 200 crossings at any national highway fee plaza, whichever comes first, regardless of the individual toll rate at each plaza.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has revised the price of the FASTag Annual Pass ahead of the 2026-27 financial year. Under an order dated 12 March, non-commercial vehicle owners will pay Rs 3,075 for the pass from 1 April onwards, up from the previous rate of Rs 3,000. The Annual Pass was launched on 15 August last year to ease the financial burden of toll charges on regular commuters and make highway travel more convenient.

It is open to owners of cars, jeeps and vans registered for non-commercial use, provided their FASTag is active and in working order. The pass remains valid for one year or 200 crossings at any national highway fee plaza, whichever comes first, regardless of the individual toll rate at each plaza.

The price adjustment is in keeping with the National Highway Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) (Amendment) Rules, 2025, which requires the Annual Pass rate to be reviewed and revised each year.

How Much Is the FASTag Pass Being Used?

Figures from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) show that more than 50 lakh national highway users are now travelling on the Annual Pass. To put that in perspective, roughly 28 per cent, more than one in four, of all non-commercial car transactions recorded on the national highway network are now being processed through the FASTag Annual Pass.

Since FASTag was first rolled out in 2016, a total of 11.86 crore tags have been issued. Of these, around 5.9 crore are currently active and being used for electronic toll payments at national highway fee plazas. Over 98 per cent of all toll revenue collected on national highways now comes through FASTag.

MoRTH data highlights Bijwasan Fee Plaza on the Delhi–Gurugram border as the single busiest location for Annual Pass usage, with around 57 per cent of car crossings there using the pass. Mundka Toll Plaza, a key collection point on Urban Extension Road-II in Delhi, comes in close behind at nearly 53 per cent, as does Jhinjholi Fee Plaza on the Sonipat–Bawana Highway (NH-334P) near Delhi, where a similar proportion of non-commercial vehicles are using the Annual Pass.

Looking at regional trends, Chandigarh leads the country in Annual Pass uptake, accounting for 14 per cent of all Annual Pass transactions nationally. Tamil Nadu follows at 12.3 per cent, with Delhi at 11.5 per cent. From its launch on 15 August 2025 through to January 2026, the FASTag Annual Pass had logged over 26.55 crore transactions in total.

Where Is the FASTag Pass Valid?

The Annual Pass is accepted at approximately 1,150 fee plazas across national highways and national expressways. At toll points on state highways, expressways, or any road managed by state governments or local authorities, a regular FASTag will apply and standard charges will be deducted as normal.

Drivers who do not opt for the Annual Pass can continue using their existing FASTag without any changes to how it functions.

Once a pass reaches either the 200-trip limit or completes one year from activation, it reverts automatically to a standard FASTag. Users who exhaust their 200 trips before the year is up are free to purchase a new Annual Pass straight away, without waiting for the validity period to expire.
