Ferrari will reveal its 849 Testarossa in India this month. It is a 1,036 bhp plug-in hybrid supercar that succeeds the SF90 Stradale.

Ferrari has officially announced that the India reveal of its latest 849 Testarossa will take place on March 14, 2026. The company might announce the local price and delivery details of the supercar on the same day as well.

The name of this car draws inspiration from Ferrari’s historic “Testa Rossa” lineage, first introduced on the Ferrari 500 TR in 1956, referencing the red cam covers of its racing engines.

At the core of the 849 Testarossa is a reworked 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, internally designated F154FC. The unit produces 830 bhp, representing a 50 bhp increase over the SF90 Stradale’s combustion engine.

Enhancements include larger turbochargers with low-friction bearings derived from the F80, revised cylinder heads, a new engine block, updated intake and exhaust systems, and lightweight titanium fasteners. The engine achieves a specific output of 208 bhp per litre.

The hybrid system incorporates three electric motors contributing a combined 220 bhp. Two motors power the front axle, enabling torque vectoring and all-wheel drive capability, while a rear-mounted MGU-K unit supports the rear axle. Total system output stands at 1,036 bhp and 842 Nm of torque, compared to the SF90 Stradale’s 986 bhp and 800 Nm.

Ferrari claims a 0 to 100 kmph sprint in under 2.3 seconds, along with a Fiorano lap time of 1 minute 17.5 seconds, improving upon its predecessor by 1.2 seconds.

The 849 Testarossa generates 415 kg of downforce at 250 kmph, an increase of 25 kg over the SF90 Stradale. Cooling efficiency has improved by 15%, while airflow to the intercoolers has risen by 30% through revised bodywork.

Design cues draw inspiration from 1970s Sports Prototypes and the Ferrari 512 S. The rear adopts a twin-tail configuration with integrated wing sections contributing 10 % of rear downforce. The front features a full-width graphic treatment seen on recent Ferrari models.

Despite performance upgrades, the dry weight remains unchanged at 1,570 kg, achieved through extensive lightweight engineering including lighter springs and racing-inspired machining techniques.
