The premium is not as steep as it was initially thought of

After being on sale for nearly ten months, Royal Enfield has finally been able to crack the code and offer tubeless wire-spoke rims for the Himalayan 450 for Indian buyers. The price of the new-gen Royal Enfield adventure motorcycle has gone up by ₹11,000 across the board. Here are the new prices:

 Price (ex-showroom Chennai)
Kaza Brown₹2.96 lakh
Slate Himalayan Salt₹3.00 lakh
Slate Himalayan Poppy Blue₹3.00 lakh
Kamet White₹3.04 lakh
Hanle Black₹3.09 lakh

In order to get the tubeless spoke wheels option, the buyers have to purchase their Himalayan 450 through Royal Enfield’s Make-it-Yours (MiY) customisation programme. And if you are an existing buyer, Royal Enfield hasn’t forgotten you as well. You will be able to purchase the same rims for ₹12,424 from the company’s dealerships from October 3 onwards.

The biggest bug bearer for the Himalayan 450 were the hassles that owners faced in the event of a puncture. With the specially-developed Ceat tyres and the limited availability of the large size tubes, for the rear wheel especially, buyers were getting a bit frustrated. The introduction of the better rims should help ease matters when out on tours or when going off-road.

Meanwhile, Royal Enfield has been working on a more hardcore Himalayan. Recently, images of the bike under development were shared online. And here’s what we could spot.
