The milestone highlights nearly three decades of powertrain collaboration between the two companies in India.
Force Motors has marked a milestone in its long-standing association with Mercedes-Benz with the production of its 200,000th engine at its Chakan facility in Pune, the company has announced. The engine commemorating the milestone is the six-cylinder M256 petrol unit, which has been installed in a Mercedes-Benz GLS 450.
The occasion was attended by senior leadership from both companies, including representatives from Mercedes-Benz Group AG.
The partnership between the two firms in powertrain manufacturing dates back to 1997 and has expanded significantly over the years. In addition to engines, Force Motors also produces axles for the full range of Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles and SUVs assembled in India.
The Chakan facility has evolved into a key manufacturing base, supplying components built to global specifications and supporting Mercedes-Benz’s operations in the domestic market.
“As Mercedes-Benz continues to expand its presence in India, Force Motors remains committed to supporting its growth through best-in-class manufacturing, operational excellence and by contributing to the production of world-class automotive components in India. The 200,000th engine is more than a production milestone; it is the living story of a half-century-long partnership built on trust, precision and shared purpose.
"The Force Motors Chakan facility was purpose-built to meet Mercedes-Benz’s exacting global standards, and every engine that has rolled out of it, reflects Force Motors’ unwavering commitment to engineering excellence and manufacturing precision. To have honoured that commitment 200,000 times is a moment of profound pride for us," Prasan Firodia, Managing Director, Force Motors Limited, said in a statement.
Among those present at the event were Dr. Joerg Burzer, Member of the Board of Management at Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Chief Technology Officer for Development & Procurement; Michael Schiebe, responsible for Production, Quality and Supply Chain Management; and Mathias Geisen, who oversees Sales and Customer Experience.
