Euler Motors aims to enhance India’s commercial EV ecosystem through predictive maintenance, home charging options, and comprehensive lifecycle solutions.

The commercial vehicle space in India has evolved significantly over the years, adopting cleaner mobility solutions for a better future. Euler Motors, one of the prominent names in the electric light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment, has been at the forefront of this transition. The company recently launched Euler Prime, a real-time, on-the-go vehicle support solution designed to deliver faster, smarter, and preemptive assistance.

Euler claims this new support solution will be disruptive for India’s growing electric LCV space. Acko Drive recently had the opportunity to speak with Ashish Tandon, Global Head of Customer Excellence at Euler Motors, following the launch of the Euler Prime, where we got enlightened about how connected technologies have the potential to shape the future of this segment.

Strengthening Foundation

Ashish highlighted the need for a robust charging and energy infrastructure since it is fundamental to the growth of electric mobility in India. He stressed that “only when you have the right charging infrastructure along with clean energy will you have that clean air.”

Despite progress, several ground-level challenges persist. One major issue is the use of locally set up or unregulated charging stations, which can compromise vehicle performance and reliability. “Some customers use locally set up charging places which deteriorate the performance of the vehicle,” he explained.

However, he noted that certain cities like Delhi are becoming role models, offering more charging stations than even petrol pumps. This model, he suggested, must be replicated nationwide to achieve scale and reliability in the EV sector.

Creating Local Ecosystem

Beyond infrastructure, Ashish emphasized the importance of developing a local ecosystem for EV maintenance. Drawing parallels with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, he predicted a similar evolution for electric vehicles.

“If EVs have to become a way of life, it has to go to the ground level where local mechanics are able to repair,” he stated. India currently boasts millions of small mechanics servicing ICE vehicles, and he envisions a future where they gradually adapt to EV systems. This shift, according to him, would eliminate customer anxiety about service availability and breakdowns. Such a transformation would not only democratize EV adoption but also create new skill-based employment opportunities, expanding the country’s technical workforce into the electric era.

Home Charging as Practical Solution

One of the most customer-focused discussions is centered around home charging. Ashish confirmed that Euler Motors has already introduced home charging solutions for its vehicles, particularly suitable for (LCVs). “Home charging is what we are providing as of now,” he explained. “We had started this around three months back when we started with four-wheelers and we give it as an accessory to customers.”

He added that the current setup is “quite rudimentary” and requires standardisation from authorities to ensure uniform safety and compatibility. Drawing parallels with car manufacturers that install chargers at customers’ homes before vehicle delivery, he emphasized that standardized home charging would soon become “a basic requirement for the customer before they think about EV.”

The cost of charging, too, has become increasingly affordable. “Charge point operators initially used to charge X amount—it has already come down to 50 percent now,” he noted, indicating rapid improvements in affordability and accessibility.

Building Confidence, Value Through Euler Prime

Looking beyond technology and infrastructure, Ashish unveiled Euler Assured, a new initiative designed to provide end-to-end lifecycle support for customers. This platform complements Euler Prime, the company’s predictive vehicle ecosystem, by addressing resale value and transparency—two key concerns for commercial vehicle owners.

“Beyond Euler Prime, we will be focusing on Euler Assured, which would be a platform we are building for end-to-end solutions—from purchase to resale or exchange,” Ashish explained.

Pilots are already underway in Delhi and Bangalore to assess resale and exchange mechanisms. The goal is to build customer and financier confidence through predictable residual values and transparent trade-in processes. “This would give full confidence to financiers as well as to the customer that they can predict the resale value of a particular vehicle,” he added.

By integrating these services, Euler Motors aims to streamline the buying-to-ownership journey, making EV ownership more reliable and financially sound.

Predictive Ecosystems

When asked whether connected vehicle ecosystems would become a competitive differentiator, Ashish responded decisively: “It is clearly going to be a big differentiator for us—Euler Prime on the predictive side and Euler Assured on the resale value side.”

He contextualized this within India’s broader logistics challenge, where logistics costs account for 12 percent of GDP. For these costs to come down, EV adoption must rise, driven by cleaner and more efficient solutions. “If logistics costs have to come down, clean energy is the only solution,” he affirmed.

The Hero MotoCorp-backed EV manufacturer believes that logistical constraints could be tackled through localization and affordability. “The operating cost of EV is five times lower compared to diesel or CNG vehicles,” he shared, adding that their new Euler Turbo model is only about 10 percent higher in acquisition cost than a comparable diesel or CNG vehicle.
