ACDelco has re-entered India through a licensing deal with Assurance International, which plans to invest ₹300 crore in a battery plant while expanding local production of automotive batteries and lubricants.
Aftermarket automotive products brand ACDelco, owned by General Motors, has re-entered the Indian market through a licensing partnership with Assurance International Limited.
As part of the arrangement, Assurance International plans to invest ₹300 crore over the next three years to establish a battery manufacturing facility. The company has already invested ₹180 crore in a lubricant plant located in Hisar, Haryana, which has a production capacity of 1 lakh litres per day.
The upcoming battery plant, also being set up in Hisar, is expected to have a production capacity of 25,000 units per day once fully operational. Battery manufacturing operations are scheduled to begin next month.
Mukesh Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Assurance International Limited, said the partnership operates under a licensing structure. Under this arrangement, the company will manufacture, market and sell the product range, while ACDelco will provide technical collaboration and oversee product quality and standards.
The initial product portfolio will include automotive batteries and high-performance lubricants designed for both passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles operating in Indian conditions. The company plans to expand the lineup in the future with additional aftermarket components such as wipers and oil filters.
According to the company, local manufacturing will help maintain competitive pricing while ensuring the global quality standards associated with the ACDelco brand.
The products will be distributed through a multi-tier network that includes distributors, retailers and service workshops across key automotive markets in India.
