It has an astronomical claim of pushing out 378 Nm of torque… but that’s at the wheel.
Setting a new standard in the domain of performance electric scooters Gogoro Inc has unveiled its new flagship electric smart scooter: Pulse. Although it is built on the company’s existing swappable battery standard, the technological proposition that the new Gogoro electric scooter ushers in is completely new.
Starting with the design of the scooter. Gogoro claims that the Pulse is the most aero-efficient scooter that it has ever designed. The company calls this its new ‘Aeroforce’ design that not only reduces non-essential drag but also increases airflow to cool the electric motor (more on this later).
The Gogoro Pulse also debuts the company’s new Hyper Drive powertrain. It has been designed to “increase performance while reducing energy consumption”.
The completely redesigned electric powerplant now accommodates a new smart system called Hypercore, which comes paired with the new 9 kW-rated H1 motor, to deliver state-of-the-art traction control. This Hypercore is critical for the scooter to effectively put out 378 Nm of peak torque that the H1 motor produces at the rear wheel. While it reads like it is astronomically high, in actuality it shouldn’t be more than what you experience on the Yamaha Aerox 155.
As a result, the Gogoro Pulse can accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in just 3.05 seconds. Thus making it faster than any 125cc-equivalent scooter and beyond as well. The traction control hardware further aids for different ride modes including Dirt, City, Touring, Track, Range, and Custom mode.
Making this new powertrain more efficient is its cooling system. Unlike other Gogoro scooters, the new Pulse not only benefits from air-cooling, which is optimised to channel cool air via ducts for effective heat dissipation, but also liquid-cooling.
Gogoro has introduced a new ‘Smart Cockpit’ dashboard. It is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon QWM2290 digital chassis making it the world’s first two-wheeler to be powered by so.
The dashboard is built around a new 10.25-inch panoramic HD touch display with Gogoro’s IQ Touch HD user interface integrated. Aside from different ride modes, several other features like turn-by-turn navigation with real-time traffic information, Gogoro GoStation locations for battery swapping stations, etc are also displayed.
Aside from that, the Gogoro Pulse gets a new advanced active-matrix lighting system with 13 independent LED units. Each unit works separately depending upon dynamic riding factors like speed and weather conditions. In addition to that, active cornering lighting is also available with the Pulse.
The Gogoro Pulse will also be available with Gogoro’s scooter key in the Apple Wallet app and Apple Find My feature integration. This also allows you to effectively lock and unlock the scooter with a tap from your iPhone or Apple Watch devices.
The Gogoro Pulse will go on sale in Taiwan in the second quarter of the 2024-2025 financial year. With the company planning an Indian outreach, we should hope that it does reach our shores by late-2024.
