Aside from two new additions to the CVO line-up, Harley-Davidson has also introduced two new models.
Starting 2024 on a new thumping note, Harley-Davidson has revived its line-up. The Milwaukee-based manufacturer has introduced a total of four new models, which includes two new top-spec specials as part of its Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) and two brand new ‘bagger’ models.
The new CVO bikes - Pan America and Road Glide ST - build on the existing models in the Milwaukee firm’s line-up.
Starting with the Pan Am, the CVO Special retains the same 1252 cc “Revolution Max” engine that produces 150 bhp and 127.44 Nm. The semi-active front and rear suspension, touchscreen display, selectable ride modes, and adaptive front headlight features are also the same.
However, different with the CVO Pan Am includes a striking new colour scheme with the number one decal on the tank. Several accessories like an aluminium top and side cases, aluminium skid plate, and a quickshifter are some of the new additions.
With the new CVO Road Glide ST, Harley-Davidson claims that it is the “quickest, fastest and most sophisticated performance bagger” that they have ever produced. Further attributed by the fact that the 1977 cc, V-twin is exclusive to this model, producing 126.1 bhp and 193 Nm of torque.
There is weight reduction, and yet it weighs a hefty 363 kg dry. The reductions come from the use of titanium and forged carbon fibre across various components, wherein the latter is found on the front fender, tank console, and seat cowl.
The CVO Road Glide ST is further distinguishable with the ‘Screaming Eagle graphic’ found on the bodywork which in turn is inspired by the MotoAmerican Mission King of the Baggers race series.
Both the new 2024 Street Glide and Road Glide gain a new Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine. The 1923 cc, counterbalanced V-twin bears significant revisions. From updated intake and exhaust characteristics to boasting a new cooling system. Harley-Davidson did not reveal any power/torque figures though.
Additionally, weight has also been reduced in both the bikes, and comfort has improved as well. Each bike receives brand new tech, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen TFT dash, and a 200-watt amplifier. There are also four rider modes: Road, Sport, Rain, and Custom, all of which will electronically adjust the performance characteristics of the bike including throttle response, engine braking configuration, ABS, and traction control intervention.
Harley engineers have worked on the design of both motorcycles too. The aerodynamics has been rejigged which Harley claims will reduce the helmet buffeting at speeds by 60 per cent. Similarly, the seat has been redesigned and the rear suspension travel has been increased to 76mm.
While these new offerings have been launched for the US market, the same is expected to eventually make its way to our country as well. As for their prices, the CVO models will command a premium price tag for the exclusive treatments. While the new Road Glide and Street Glide will be priced in the same range which also includes the likes of the Honda Gold Wing, BMW R18 Transcontinental, and others.
