Custom bikes that can inspire production motorcycle design.

At the 2023 India Bike Week, Harley-Davidson revealed the custom-built X440 motorcycles, marking the inaugural collaboration between Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp. These motorcycles, manufactured in India, were presented in four custom designs, each crafted in partnership with prominent custom bike builders in the country.

Harley

The first variant, a scrambler by Rajputana Customs, features modifications such as lengthened forks, knobby tyres, and a lighter aluminum subframe. This model is characterised by a shortened wheelbase and a single seat, providing an off-road, robust stance.

Old Delhi Motorcycles contributed a retro roadster with distinct features. The motorcycle includes flared fenders and leather upholstered seats, adding a touch of classic elegance to its design. The thoughtful addition of a sidecar further enhances the overall appeal, creating a unique and rebellious 'Smokey and the Bandit' aura around the entire ensemble.

Meanwhile, TNT Motorcycles from Delhi envisioned a cafe racer edition. This model is distinguished by a carefully customised rear subframe, providing a unique structural modification. The altered fuel tank design contributes to the bike's distinctive aesthetic, ensuring it stands out among its counterparts. The inclusion of clip-on handlebars adds a touch of functional elegance, aligning with the classic cafe racer style. Classic fat balloon tyres complete the ensemble, enhancing both the visual appeal and the bike's performance on the road.

Harley

A flat tracker by Bombay Custom Works from Mumbai, is built upon the Harley X440 platform. This model incorporates a bespoke fuel tank, handlebar, exhaust, and dual-purpose tyres. The scrambler-styled high-mounted exhaust complements the red frame with white paintwork, presenting a distinctive aesthetic.

Harley-Davidson

Beneath the surface, the stock Harley-Davidson X440, originally configured as a roadster, serves as a versatile platform for customisation. Equipped with a 440 cc air and oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine generating 27.6 bhp and 38 Nm of peak torque, the motorcycle is matched with a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension features include USD front forks and dual shock absorbers at the rear, while braking is facilitated by disc brakes at both ends, fortified by dual-channel ABS.
