New scooters and updated existing models ruled the news this week
The start of the new month brought along some new, or rather updated, two-wheelers for Indian buyers to choose from. Here’s what made the headlines:
Aprilia has revamped its scooter line-up in India with the SR 160 now making way for a larger and more powerful SR 175. The sporty Aprilia scooter is now a bit more powerful, has more features on board and is quite a bit more affordable. More details in this story.
KTM has listened to its Indian buyers who were begging the company for a bit more kit on the 390 Adventure X. Hence, barely a few months after the launch of the bike, KTM has updated its affordable version of the 390 Adventure with the electronic rider suite from the standard bike. The pricing is expected to go up by around ₹15,000.
Hero’s most affordable electric scooter is here: the Vida VX2. With prices starting from as low as ₹54,490 (ex-showroom India), the Vida VX2 will be among the few to offer customers the option to choose battery-as-a-service purchase plans. The e-scooter looks fairly conventional and has a healthy amount of features. Here’s what to expect from the new Vida e-scooter.
Small but key updates have been rolled out to the Bajaj Dominar 400 and Dominar 250. Both bikes will now get 4 riding modes and a fair few touring-oriented accessories. However, only the Dominar 400 will get the benefit of ride-by-wire. Get to know the new prices in this story.
With its annual Ather Community Day slated for late-August, the Bengaluru-based electric company had a few announcements this week. For starters, much like its investor Hero MotoCorp, Ather too announced that its next EL range of low-cost electric scooters will offer a battery-as-a-subscription purchase model. Furthermore, there is a larger 3.7 kWh battery pack option offered on the Ather Rizta S trim. The larger battery was initially only kept for the Rizta Z.
