Hero MotoCorp's latest offering, the Mavrick 440, enters the Indian sub-500cc retro segment with a roar. The bike comes in three distinct variants, each catering to a different rider's needs and budget. Let's delve into the details and help you choose the Mavrick that perfectly aligns with your needs.
The base variant of the Hero Mavrick 400, starting at ₹1.99 lakh (ex-showroom), is the budget-conscious rider's dream. Getting a 400 cc bike at this price is a game changer in itself. Its single Arctic White colour scheme exudes simplicity, while the spoke wheels and tubed tyres take away some amount of creature comforts. The digital instrument cluster provides essential information. It gets basic smartphone connectivity via bluetooth. This allows for notification and call alerts along with turn by turn navigation. It misses out on e-sim based features, which aren’t really that enriching your riding experience. The motorcycle also omits the machine-finished fins for the engine. If you seek a raw, no-nonsense roadster experience, the Base might be your partner.
For those who crave a touch more flair, the Mid variant of the Hero Mavrick starts at ₹2.14 lakh (ex-showroom). It has two vibrant colour options, Celestial Blue and Fearless Red. The alloy wheels with tubeless tyres add to the practicality and ease of living with it. While it gets bluetooth connectivity, smartphone connectivity via e-sim remains off the menu even here. For us, it's the perfect balance of features and practicality, thanks to the tubeless tyres and well-rounded package
The Top variant, priced at ₹ 2.24 lakh (ex-showroom), is the ultimate expression of the Hero Mavrick's spirit. It's draped in two enigmatic shades of black, Phantom and Enigma. But the real attraction lies in the features. It gets an e-sim based smartphone connectivity. So despite the lower variants getting smart phone connectivity this one gets features like Geo-fencing and location based controls. Turn-by-turn navigation guides your way, while call notifications ensure you stay in touch. Diamond-cut alloy wheels and 3D badging add a touch of premium finesse. Along with that you also get a two tone seat. The quarter panel also has a different colour Hero badging. This gets the machine-finished fins but they do not add any performance or improve the cooling of the engine. These are purely aesthetic.
Built on a sturdy trellis frame, the Mavrick 440 is powered by a 440cc air-/oil-cooled ‘TorqX’ engine, delivering 27 bhp at 6000 rpm and 36 Nm at 4000 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Its torque distribution is calibrated to provide more than 90% of peak torque at approximately 2,000rpm, enhancing its strong low-end capability for spirited city rides and effortless highway cruising.
