Hero MotoCorp Sales Grow By 4.5% In August, Exports Witness Sharp Decline Of 24.5%

Hero's domestic sales rose by 4.5 per cent to 542,305 units, when compared to 519,139 units sold during the same month last year. Exports dropped by 24.5 per cent to 26,093 units, from 34,588 units a year earlier.

Hero MotoCorp reported an average 2.6 per cent year-on-year increase in total sales in August 2026. Exports witnessed a sharp decline amid continued weakness in its international business. Hero dispatched 568,398 units last month, against 553,727 units sold during the same month last year. Domestic sales rose by 4.5 per cent to 542,305 units, when compared to 519,139 units sold during the same month last year. Exports dropped by 24.5 per cent to 26,093 units, from 34,588 units a year earlier. While Hero leads domestic demand, rival Honda has raced past in terms of overall volume.

Hero revealed motorcycle dispatches stood at 493,851 units, a decline of 1.5 per cent  year-on-year when compared to 501,523 units a year earlier. On the other hand, scooter sales witnessed a jump of 42.8 per cent with 74,547 units dispatched last month, up from 52,204 units in August 2025.

Hero said its retail momentum remained consistent with a 19 per cent year-on-year growth in Vahan registrations. The company is confident of carrying the same growth into the festive season. The two-wheeler giant’s domestic ICE business registered 516,747 dispatches last month, while Vahan retail growth stood at 18 per cent. Motorcycles such as the Hero Splendor, Glamour X, Passion, and Super Splendor XTEC remained popular sellers; whereas the Destini and Xoom were the top-selling scooters for Hero. Coming to EV sales, Hero’s sister brand VIDA dispatched 25,558 units last month, with retail registrations growing by 38 per cent, as per Vahan.

With respect to year-to-date (April to August 2027) sales, Hero’s total dispatches were in the green and stood at 27.79 lakh units, up from 23.71 lakh units during the same period in the last financial year. Domestic sales stood at 26.16 lakh units, up from 22.34 lakh units. Exports grew to 1.63 lakh units in FY2027 so far, from 1.36 lakh in FY2026.
